The yarn was a gorgeous pink to purple with a lovely reddish tinge in between. The color was called 12 Princesses <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twelve_Dancing_Princesses" target="_blank">after the Grimm's Fairy Tale</a>.<br />
<br />
I wanted to make a hat that had some nice work but would show off the color evolution so I picked <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/plumeable" target="_blank">Plumeable</a> because I liked the little lace pattern but it wouldn't take away from the color changes.<br />

I feel as though I almost have to re-introduce myself since I haven't posted 4 months. Really it's not you, my lovely readers, it's me. I have wanted to post a couple times but I wanted to do a re-cap post and that thought was daunting. Also, I have these fleeting moments where I need to post things but get swept away my work and life. Anyway, I am using the new(ish) year to start with a clean slate and new beginning.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5597/15261051307_86fa170b41_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5597/15261051307_86fa170b41_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hello there!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So no time like the present right? It's time to stop making excuses and get back to what I enjoy which is sharing with all of you. <br />
<br />
Really this hobby is a bit cathartic, I can write out what's going on and just let it go into the world and off of my shoulders. I have missed that and hope to find a better time to incorporate this into my week.<br />
<br />
So what has been going on in my life over the last few months? Well lots of love and laughter that is for sure.<br />
<h3>
<b>September:</b></h3>
Joe went to Atlanta for work and brought me back a magnet from the <a href="http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/" target="_blank">Georgia Aquarium</a>. This cute little sea otter keeps an eye on me at work.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cute little sea otter magnet</td></tr>

<br />
I was also celebrating new beginnings with Jenn's Bridal Shower. Her aunt and mom did a lot of the work to design the decor and decorate. They did such a beautiful job.<br />
<br />

Today is really dreary and I have on my <a href="http://amaryllis-musings.blogspot.com/search/label/shapelyboyfriend" target="_blank">Shapely Boyfriend Cardigan</a> to keep me warm at work. I would rather have a hug from my real boyfriend though. </div>

I am so in love with this blanket. It has kept me warm as the summer nights cool when I have been working on this blanket. I am considering backing the blanket because of all of my weaved in ends but I probably won't do that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I bound off each side with a size 9 needle to give the edge some give and I think it will square up nicely once the other two sides are on. Hope to pick up all of the stitches tonight.</div>

I guess we can start with the good.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>The Highs</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u><br /></u></b></span>
Saturday July 5th, I went on an amazing date with a wonderful guy. We met on eharmony and this was our first time meeting each other. I was nervous but really had no idea that my life would change during that lunch.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3875/14906498385_6317f2f670_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3875/14906498385_6317f2f670_b.jpg" width="225" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">So he decided to try on my glasses</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Joe made me laugh and swept me off my feet in one afternoon. He turned out to be everything I ever mentioned about a guy and more. He is nerdy and sweet, kind and funny, and makes me want to be a better person.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Seriously people I am in LOVE. Since that date, we have been inseparable and I can't describe how happy I have been. I don't really remember what life was like before July 5th. Really this has been one of the major causes of my distraction and I wouldn't change I for the world. :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b style="font-size: x-large;"><u>The Lows</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A couple things have really made this time suck too. While I am deliriously happy and in love, I am also stressed out.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I made the decision earlier in July to break my lease and move home. Between school tuition payments and my medical bills I just couldn't make things work anymore. Dad has been awesome and is helping me break my lease. The original plan was to be out by the end of September but that took a quick detour on July 29th.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It was a normal work day and I was plugging through email when my dad calls out of the blue. He asks me if I'm sitting down and proceeds to tell me that he's been let go from his job. What a crazy turn of events. So I moved up breaking my lease and the past three weekends have been spent moving stuff home. I am about half way done with getting the stuff moved but it's still a sad sight.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I love my little place but I know this is the right thing to do. So I am sorry that things have been a bit quiet around here. I think once everything is settled down, I should be back to my regularly scheduled programming here.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<br />
<br />
I wouldn't say things have decreased to a crawl but I haven't been to the gym in ages. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way but I think I should be able to find a better routine come September. <br />
<br />
I have lost 103.4 lbs since my surgery in December for a total of 133.4 since September. While I am not always seeing the scale wins, I am now mostly wearing size 18 pants. I was super pumped on Sunday when I was able to wear size 18 jeans from the Gap and a Large T shirt. I think the last time I wore a Tshirt that didn't have an X in was Fall semester freshman year of college. Score!<br />
<br />
In news about my hair saga, I am starting to grow some back. It's weird because when i have my hair down I can feel all of the short strands on top of my head. Hopefully they grow quickly.<br />

I wanted to pop in and say hello and show you some progress I've made so far this summer.<br />

<br />So this is an older picture but I wanted to show you all how the border is working up. I actually cast off this side and am working on the other side. I really think I chose well with the camel. I work on this thing in fits and spurts but I am making progress. It's great TV knitting because it's mindless while keeping my hands busy.<div>

I have been distracted lately. Nothing bad just a combination of nice weather and a busy schedule.<br />
<br />
I did splurge and get another manicure on Monday. My last one chipped way to early for my liking because of all of the dishes and water I was around during the festival. So I got a sparkly red color.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3913/14576942416_262d94aa93_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3913/14576942416_262d94aa93_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shiny!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Anyway, between the nice weather and busy work days, I haven't really gotten much done craft wise, but I did start a hat.<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, 'Lucida Sans Unicode', 'Lucida Grande', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/plumeable" target="_blank">Princess Plume</a></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The yarn is an <a href="http://www.twistedfiberart.com/Evolutions_s/58.htm" target="_blank">evolution from Twisted Fiber Arts</a> in 12 Princesses. I am really pleased with this evolution and this hat has been flying off the needles. The pattern is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/plumeable" target="_blank">Plumeable</a> and is free on Ravelry. I really liked the sample on the project page and knew I had to make it with my Twisted. <br />
I have started on the decreases and hope to get it finished soon.<br />
<br />

I have another collage photo to post. I realized that I like these monthly look backs on how I am changing and improving my life since the surgery.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3894/14596019352_af23eae482_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3894/14596019352_af23eae482_b.jpg" width="481" /></a></div>
<br />
Things have been a bit slow going, lots of busy stuff for summer so the gym hasn't been a priority as much as it should. I was able to do 25 push ups in a minute and 48 squats in a minute. My mile time digressed a bit but I am working to get back in the swing of things.<br />
<br />
I have lost 103.2 lbs since my surgery in December for a total of 130.2 since September. I keep adding clothes to the donate basket and that is a huge win. Though, I am running low on closet stock of pants. I went and bought a size 18 and 16 jeans in prep for the next sizes. The 18's I can get on and button but it's really not flattering right now.<br />
<br />
Other than that things are good. I have been thinking protein first and my hair is rebounding nicely. Less is coming out when I wash or brush it. Let me tell you that was a relief.<br />
<br />
Sugar and I are not getting along and I have been having pain for eating to much of it. Sugar and carbs are also causing me to get a bit dizzy and my blood sugar spikes. Lovely but manageable.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
All in all I feel great, my energy is amazing and I am really happy with my progress so far.</div>

I went from dull and sedate to busy and hectic in a short span of time. Sunday was my ::cough:: 29th ::cough:: birthday and the whole weekend was busy with family and friends.<br />
<br />
Friday, I took the day off of work and went to the pool. Nothing to fancy just wanted to cool off and get some sun, though I made sure to lather on the sunscreen.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3863/14466715612_99046bd7a9_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3863/14466715612_99046bd7a9_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Such a beautiful day,</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Because on Saturday, I went and got my first tattoo. I had mentioned that I was getting this before (well at least I think I did, old age sure does creep up on you! ;-) ) that my aunt and were getting matching tattoos for my mom. Where here is mine.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2909/14470561951_d19d5afe60_o_d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2909/14470561951_d19d5afe60_o_d.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mom loved angels.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The angle of the picture makes it look a little squatty but really it looks nice. The redness is gone and it already peeled just need to let it finish healing.<br />
<br />
Sunday, I had a lovely dinner with Aunt Becky and Aunt Fran before heading back to my apartment to watch the USA vs Portugal World Cup match. So annoying :-/<br />
<br />
Then as one final treat to myself, I got a manicure and pedicure on Monday after work.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3891/14312126750_376afd7b30_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3891/14312126750_376afd7b30_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then this week is also the week of my church's festival. I took off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to help prep and work. I did have good intentions to post yesterday but never left the hall to get home. That was a long day. I am not due back until 3 pm today so I have some time to share with you.<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">So without further ado, let's talk about knitting :)</span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/ohlala-2" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Oh La La!</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3884/14512128502_9dcd4352fb_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3884/14512128502_9dcd4352fb_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So I finished the first part of the back and the right front. I need to start on the left front soon.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/willow" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Willow Square Blanket</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5578/14326611760_01f099e2e3_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5578/14326611760_01f099e2e3_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I did manage to get 2 more squares done. Love how all of the colors work together.<br />

Just work and home for the most part and knitting at night.<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;">So without further ado, let's talk about knitting :)</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;"><br /></span>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3855/14265214990_252325bf20_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3855/14265214990_252325bf20_b.jpg" width="604" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">It's Alive!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I finished all of the sections and couldn't wait to put it together! I used a crochet slip stitch to join because I am faster with a hook than a darning needle. It created a ridge but there are so many ridges from picking up stitches that it really doesn't matter on the back. <br />
<br />
Also, I needed to create a ridge so the pattern would line up. I tried mattress stitch and whip stitch and both caused the squares to be slightly off from one another. Given the optical attractiveness of the pattern, it would have bugged the crap out of me with the squares being slightly off in the center.<br />
<br />
I still have some ends to weave in but its mainly along the seams which I can catch as a distraction from the border.<br />
<br />
Speaking of the border...<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3918/14254094250_d7da75412e_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3918/14254094250_d7da75412e_o.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">We have the start to a border</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So based on the expert opinion of Samie (<a href="http://notyourgramsafghan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">NotYourGram'sAfghan</a>), I decided to go with a camel colored border vs a navy border. That blue is bright in this picture, but in natural light is actually pretty dark and the colors would have been lost with the navy border.<br />
<br />
I have 3 garter ridges done so far. I am aiming for either 15 or 20 ridges and will make that call when I get that far. I do need to switch cable lengths again. I am using a cable that makes the needle set 60" long and its just too long. Need to switch to something a little shorter so the stitches move easier as I knit the rows.<br />
<br />
I did crochet two more <span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;"> </span><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/willow" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Willow Square Blanket</a><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;"> squares but failed to get a picture this morning before work. I hope that now all of my yarn is freed up from this blanket that I can get more done between border rows.</span><br />

Work and life are moving along and before I know it, it's Wednesday and time for an update.<br />
<br />
So without further ado, let's talk about knitting :)<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3841/14372574356_e7fdb37a0b_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3841/14372574356_e7fdb37a0b_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Almost done!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I can see the light at the end of the mitered square tunnel. This has been a long time coming but I am so close to finishing this section. I plan on getting it done this week and sewing all 4 sections together this weekend. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3842/14209232967_f0a98876d2_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="528" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3842/14209232967_f0a98876d2_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is looking awesome!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I have been debating about a camel color for the edging vs navy. The original called for black but since my dark blue is so rich I worry that it won't look right with the navy. If you have thoughts or opinions please let me know to help me decide.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/ohlala-2" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Oh La La!</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5524/14395686285_2aa40c7e3a_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="361" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5524/14395686285_2aa40c7e3a_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Slowly progressing</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I know it doesn't look like much but I am making progress with this project. I get a few rows in when I get sick of mitered squares. I have to knit this block until its 6.25 inches and I think it's at 5.5 right now. The next step is the arm hole shaping then picking up from the provisional cast on for the fronts.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/nineteen-twenty-shrug" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Blast Off Shrug</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3853/14392339391_5c807a1bf7_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="361" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3853/14392339391_5c807a1bf7_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I messed up the pattern a bit but it's just a swatch ;-)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So I got another pattern repeat done on my swatch. I have one more to go before I can wash and block it. As of right now I am pretty sure I found my needle size and yarn. Wish me luck.<br />

Alas I didn't really get around to telling the world about them but there is no time like the present right?<br />
<br />
So here we go!<br />
<br />
<b>Pittsburgh Panthers Hat</b><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/11435560826" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Pittsburgh Panther Hat 1.1 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Pittsburgh Panther Hat 1.1" height="300" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3790/11435560826_14964c6178_h.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">P-I-T-T LETS GO PITT!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">I made this hat for as a Christamas Gift for Jenn's Fiance, Ryan. As a fellow Pitt Grad, I knew I wanted to make him something blue and gold. He is an insurance appraiser so I knew a nice hat would be the perfect thing for the rest of the cold winter. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">I found this pattern on ravelry because it showed a nice transition between the colors without screaming PITT! I figured it would work in a work environment. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">The knitting was fairly easy even though I sort of mis-read the pattern and started the colorwork about 2 inches too early. Oh well, I made it work and I think it turned out well.</span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lovely teal and brown</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
As a get well gift from work, I was sent oodles of yarn and two projects to work on. It was a lot easier to knit and crochet while I recovered from surgery than to read. I had the attention span of a gnat but stockinette in the round I could do from muscle memory. Plus it was ever so forgiving when I put it down to nap for a bit.<br />
<br />
So as I opened my lovely surprise gift, I knew I had to make this hat ASAP. The pattern was awesome and taught me how to do a jog-less stripe which was awesome. I loved this hat and wore most of the winter.<br />

The lovely thing about evolutions is that they progress from one color to another. This one went from a lovely plum purple color to a nice chocolate brown. I made this hat with Jenn in mind even though it hasn't gotten to it's recipient. I was really happy with the pattern and love the swirling purl rib that travels up the hat. It was deceptively simple with a great result.</div>

I hope all is well with you and I can't wait to share what's going on in Amaryllis world.<br />
<br />
I had another long weekend and spent it with awesome people. I had one last day of vacation before the end of the work fiscal year (May 31st). I was able to move a doctors appointment with my sleep study doctor (I have sleep apnea) to the late morning so I could sleep in later than normal.<br />
<br />
After my appointment I met up for lunch with Samie from <a href="http://notyourgramsafghan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">NotYourGramsAfghan</a> and Dianne (friend from work and knitting). Samie posted a <a href="http://notyourgramsafghan.blogspot.com/2014/06/weekend-update-part-1-early-start-to.html" target="_blank">great post</a> about our day but I the long an short of it was that I bought yarn that I had no intention of buying but it's going to make a great <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ginnys-cardigan" target="_blank">Ginny's Cardigan</a>.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3761/14306204732_50f1bb2b4e_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3761/14306204732_50f1bb2b4e_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Impulse Buy!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Saturday evening I met up with Aunt Becky and Aunt Fran for Indian Food. I have been craving the stuff constantly lately and none of my family is into the savory dishes except for them. I am so thankful that do like it because dinner was awesome.<br />
<br />
Sunday, I had breakfast with Lucy and her fiancé Kevin. Lucy and I were college roommates and we don't get to see each other a lot because she moved back east to Philly. We do talk online all the time and I am in her wedding next June. Seriously it's like a year from this weekend! So exciting.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3885/14158660290_dfa6c6e710_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3885/14158660290_dfa6c6e710_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lucy and I after breakfast at Pamela's Diner</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div>
Other than that I went to the gym and worked on my knitting but what I did realize recently is that I actually believe people when they tell me that I am pretty and beautiful. I can't tell you the last time I had confidence in my beauty and it's kind of awesome.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3907/14337592565_3ae60726ef_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3907/14337592565_3ae60726ef_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yeah, I kinda rock!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
So with that said, let's see what I have worked on this week.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3842/14344061914_babdf86453_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3842/14344061914_babdf86453_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Quadrant 4, half way done</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
I don't know what has kept me working on this but I have been churning out mitered squares like it's my job (alas, it's not). I just want to see this blanket done and want to start on the border. So I keep pushing through and soon it will be done. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am already on the 4th color of the 5 in this quadrant. I remember how long it took to make my first quadrant. That just shows how far I have come as a knitter.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/ohlala-2" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Oh La La!</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5567/14158297477_28955e5e2a_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5567/14158297477_28955e5e2a_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I ripped out the original work I did on this sweater</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
So I know I talked about this sweater before and I was really excited for the concept but in practice I didn't like how it was turning out. So after a bit of time in timeout, I decided to rip out all of my work and start again.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3896/14321659386_72eeb21e2c_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3896/14321659386_72eeb21e2c_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">What I have so far</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
I changed my striping scheme to make my life a little bit easier and have less ends to weave in. So I do a few rows every night and it's coming along.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/nineteen-twenty-shrug" target="_blank">Blast Off Shrug</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2907/14364972313_43f6ede261_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2907/14364972313_43f6ede261_k.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Just a bit of a swatch</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
So I got an email from SweetGeorgia Yarn talking about patterns and new colors of her yarn. Needless to say, I fell in love with the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nineteen-twenty-shrug" target="_blank">Nineteen Twenty Shrug</a> and immediately bought it and started to plan.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I had lovely hot pink and orange yarn from <a href="http://shop.spacecadetcreations.com/" target="_blank">SpaceCadetCreations</a> in <a href="http://shop.spacecadetcreations.com/products/celeste-1" target="_blank">Celeste</a> that I bought at a local yarn festival. The color was a "Department of Rocket Science" color so that means the dyer was experimenting and hasn't decided what to do with the color way. I really hope it becomes a part of the regular line up because it's gorgeous.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway, I started to swatch with the recommended needles but it was just too large so I ripped it out and started again with smaller needles. I need to keep working on it so I can wash and block it before I get started. So excited about this though :)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;">
That's it for this week.</div>

While I have been busy, really I have been avoiding thinking about this particular post.<br />
<br />
Last year I talked about how <a href="http://amaryllis-musings.blogspot.com/2013/05/happy.html" target="_blank">happy</a> and content I was during May. I was happy for the nice weather and things were finally starting to settle down in my life. While all of that is still true, this particular Mother's Day was hard.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13910362495" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="#tbt Mom and I. See I've always been cute :) by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="#tbt Mom and I. See I've always been cute :)" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7398/13910362495_d1eb276a1c_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The first mother's day after my mom passed away was just dreadful. I was inundated with awful daytime TV that talked about Mother's Day ad nauseam. It was an assault to my sense and I just wanted to bury my head in the sand and let the day pass without me. Last year, I was okay with holiday. Still a little sad but it came up so quickly that I just went with the flow.<br />
<br />
This year was a mix of both and it made me angry. I was just angry at all of the commercialism that was taking place. As I reflected on my relationship with my mom, I think I did a pretty good job of letting her know that I loved her and that she was important to me. Why did I need a specific day then to show her what I thought I was evident everyday?<br />
<br />
So the emails, the commercials, the sales, the ads and the restaurants just rubbed salt in this hatred for the holiday. I wasn't mad at mothers or the love that was being shown just that commercialism dictated it to happen.<br />
<br />
I know that kind of sounds like a cranky curmudgeon but I couldn't help how I felt. I did however have some amazing women help me make the most of the weekend.<br />
<br />
<b>My Aunt</b><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Selfie while getting my hair colored</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<div>
I am so thankful to have her in my life. She and I miss my mom so much but we are able to move on together. She has helped me so much with everything but especially before and after the surgery. She and I are even getting matching tattoos of an angel to honor my mom. My mom loved angels and our Christmas tree is covered primarily in angel ornaments. </div>
<div>
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">That look that Aunt Becky is giving me is just perfect</td></tr>

<div>
First of all, they are some of my most devoted readers. I get texts if I haven't posted in awhile.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mathra! Where's the Butter! -- Mystery Science Theater 3000</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /></div>
<div>
In general, some of my best adventures of my childhood involved these women. Whether it was a sleep over and chasing Raider (their dog) around the living room. Jumping on the little trampoline and then crashing on the couch to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000. I have always loved spending time with them. The best thing is that they loved my mom so much and I just want to soak up all of the memories and stories they have of her.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Of course there are many others but these women were so awesome this year. Instead of letting me mope around the house during Mother's Day we went out and had dinner. It made me feel a little less alone</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After this weekend I finished <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11870085-the-fault-in-our-stars?ac=1" target="_blank">The Fault in Our Stars</a> by <a href="http://johngreenbooks.com/" target="_blank">John Green</a> and while there were many things that made me cry in this book the following quote just summed up how I was feeling regarding Mother's Day.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<blockquote>
<b style="background-color: yellow;">"you won't be a mother anymore." "As long as either of us is alive, I will be your mother," she said. "Even when you die, I will still be your mom, Hazel. I won't stop being your mom."</b></blockquote>
While I am not a mother the thought that I was no longer a daughter rolled around in my mind that weekend. I really needed to <strike>hear</strike> read that even though my mom is gone I am still her daughter and she is still my mom. I hope that I make her proud.<br />

I want to love what I work on and I want the yarn that I am using to be the star of the project.<br />
<br />
This project has some history. It started it's life as a vest that I just wasn't pleased with and ended as a cardigan. In the middle however, I decided to make it a different size and ripped it apart again.<br />
<br />
Back in October, I decided I wanted to finish my half done sweater but when I looked at it I realized that I was making it too big. I had just started my journey to weight loss surgery and knew that even if I finished before the surgery, I wouldn't be able to wear it for long.<br />
<br />
So I started over and was shocked at how fast this project went. I began with a new skein of yarn and once that was used I ripped out the needles on the old sweater and started to use the yarn that was already knitted. I was about 4 skeins into the sweater and I didn't want to rip it out and re ball it. So I am carried around 2 sweaters, one that is growing and one that is shrinking.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/10574779294" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Shapely Boyfriend 4.0 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Shapely Boyfriend 4.0" height="300" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5496/10574779294_46d7718ffd_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Beginning Again.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I was shocked that in 6 short weeks I was able to finish the sweater. I had the entire thing done and the buttons on but still had ends to weave in. It was also about the time that I was prepping for surgery so I hung it up in my closet and left it alone for a bit.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/11067641966" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Shapely Boyfriend 8.0 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Shapely Boyfriend 8.0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3776/11067641966_0c97407644_b.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Buttons!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /><br />
<div>
Then earlier this month I stared at my almost finished sweater and decided it was time. Between loads of laundry I sat on my bed and worked through weaving all the ends. It was done and time for it's photo shoot.</div>

I have another collage photo to post. I realized that I like these monthly look backs on how I am changing and improving my life since the surgery. Once again I have to thank the Amazing Dianne for her photography skills and taking another shot of me at the mall during our knit night. And a quick thanks to Samie for taking May's picture.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These last two months have flown by and I am super happy with my progress. I have tried to make it to the gym as much as possible and am really happy with my endurance. I am able to do 22 push ups in a minute, 45 squats in a minute and jog a mile in 15 minutes and 35 seconds. What that equates to is 98.5 lbs lost since the surgery and 125.5 lbs since September. My clothes are really just falling off of me and I have a ton of stuff to donate.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For my diet, things have been looking up. I can tolerate chicken again as long as I eat it slow and take small bites. I am now allowed to eat salads and other fibrous veggies and am really happy with the variety. Unfortunately, I had to adjust some things so I can get enough protein. I have been noticing that my hair has been thinning so I eat with protein in mind first.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All in all I feel great, my energy is amazing and I am really happy with my progress so far.</div>

I am so thankful to those who dedicate their lives to defending our country. I definitely try to keep that in mind during the long weekend.<br />
<br />
I did however have a nice relaxing weekend where I didn't do to much. I basically hung out with family, went to the movies (Godzilla - it was awesome!) and cleaned. Really exciting stuff but I did get a new duvet cover for my bed and new sheets to compliment it. What was even better was that it was all on sale! Score!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">So in love with Pink and Orange right now</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
So other than that blanket work has kept me entertained these past two weeks.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/14275485253" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Hue Shift 23.2 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Hue Shift 23.2" height="470" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3669/14275485253_cde5c094c3_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Three Quarters of the blanket are done!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<div>
So I have been super motivated to get this blanket done. I really love seeing these blocks come together. I did try and start to join them but the mattress stitch pulled the patterned stripes off and it hurt my brain. I have a few tricks up my sleeve though. I am going to try again but move a bit further into the block than my first test. If that doesn't work then they are getting whip stitched together.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/14104083029" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Hue Shift 23.3 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Hue Shift 23.3" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2901/14104083029_2a91bee75e_b.jpg" width="409" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The last quadrant</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
While I put the thoughts of joining in the corner to think about what its done, I started on the last section. I purposely made sure this was the last section because these are my favorite colors of the blanket. I knew when I started this thing that I was going to need a good motivator to get this last section done and so I put these colors last. <br />
<br />
That combined with the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/willow" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Willow Square Blanket</a> have really gotten me grooving on getting this project completed. I even have the ends weaved in on two of the 3 completed quadrants. Which is huge because there are a lot of ends. I try and finish some ends after I complete a row so everything is ready when I start to join and complete the border. <br />
<br />
I am going to modify the border on this blanket. Since it's coming out smaller than I thought it would, I am going to make the border thicker to make the blanket larger. I am also using Navy as the border instead of black like the sample had. <br />
<br />
All in all I can't wait for this blanket to be done to snuggle underneath.<br />
<br />

Goodness I love that movie and need to remember to watch it more often.<br />
<br />
Anyway, we have had some really warm weather this week with low humidity. Aside from my allergies exploding, I am super pumped about this time of year. Seriously, its gorgeous!<br />
<br />
So things have been pretty calm here in Amaryllis land, between work, the gym and home I am pretty boring but I have made some progress on my blankets.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Another color bites the dust...well becomes a willow square</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
As I have indicated, I am really trying to finish a color on this blanket to make squares for the Willow Square Blanket. It's working pretty well so far as I finished the peachy color called (Shrimp) last night. <br />
<br />
Now onto the last row of this section. With that done all is left is the blues and green section, which may just be my favorite part. Though after my favorite, I still have a lot of ends to weave in which is my least favorite part.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/willow" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Willow Square Blanket</a><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pretty Peachy Square</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
Since I just finished the Shrimp color last night, I only got one square done but still wanted to show everyone. Just need to keep on moving and both blankets will be done before I know it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
That's it for this week.</div>

I have been pretty busy at work so I am a bit behind on the posts I wanted to write. But I am at least trying to get one post a week up until things calm down.<br />
<br />
Anyway, this past weekend was the <a href="http://www.sheepandwool.org/" target="_blank">41st Annual Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival</a>. I had been saving up so I bought a lot of awesome yarn for this year's projects. That in itself is another post hopefully this week. Plus I still need to get some good shots of the yarns I bought.<br />
<br />
On Sunday, I also got to go to my first playoff game of the <a href="http://penguins.nhl.com/" target="_blank">Pittsburgh Penguins</a>. Spoiler Alert --> they won! <br />
<br />
Now it's back to the grind but I have some awesome things to show you this week.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/willow" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Willow Square Blanket</a><br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/14130357074" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Willow Square Blanket 2 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Willow Square Blanket 2" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2934/14130357074_ec77cb28cc_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I love this square</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<div>
I got the Pomegranate squares done bu nothing more really started. I want to get to the Shrimp squares but I need to finish that row on the Hue Shift. Other than that these are coming along nicely.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a></div>
<div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13943432888" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Hue Shift 21.1 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Hue Shift 21.1" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7326/13943432888_9baf831c14_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Half way done with this block</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
So I am plugging along with this block. The added incentive to get a color finished to make the Willow Squares keeps this project fairly handy. I love getting into the middle of a square because each pass is so much faster than the first couple rows. Overall, I just need to keep at it.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hitchhiker-2" style="background-color: white; color: #6c52be; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;" target="_blank">Juicy Hitchhiker</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13943338309" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Juicey Hitchhiker 2.0 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Juicey Hitchhiker 2.0" height="361" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/13943338309_98381c7a96_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">It's Alive!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
This is my traveling project and as such it doesn't get to much work done on it or pictures. I worked on this a lot this past semester because my professor let me knit during class. I also took it around when I was at Maryland Sheep and Wool for a Project to do when sitting around and resting. Really this guy usually lives in my car but it's looking pretty good for a travel project.<br />
<br />
Other than that I have so much more to tell about my travels and my weight loss journey so stay tuned for more updates.<br />
<br />

I am so excited to post today. For the past few weeks, I have not been inclined to really knit or crochet. And when I have made some progress my stupid phone was not cooperating. Finally the stars are aligning and I am happy to craft and can take gorgeous pictures with my new phone. Yippy.<br />
<br />
In other news, even though it is rainy and grey today the bright colors of spring are starting to appear. The trees are blossoming and turning that lovely shade of bight green. The air is also fragrant with spring flowers and wet earth. Love that smell. The only downside is my allergies are starting to kick up. Lots of meds for me to breathe. Guess it's a good thing I like to stay in and craft!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/strandwanderer" target="_blank">Wandering Hobbit</a><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Love the springy blues, greens and purples :)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Sadly, it has been almost 2 months since I wrote an update on my crafting. In that time, I have really only worked on this project. I was really more focused with reading than knitting so this has been my sole project during my Thursday Knit Nights. This is a great project to plug away on since its a little interesting with the short rows to make the stripes.<br />
<br />
I am using <a href="http://www.bluemoonfiberarts.com/newmoon/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=182_4_64" target="_blank">Blue Moon Fiber Arts - Socks That Rock</a> in Hobbit Garden. I fell so in love with the colors and the skein just called to me while digging through my stash this it winter. <br />
<br />
I have decided to deviate from the pattern and do <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_6Pjl20zKA" target="_blank">German Short Rows</a> instead of wraps and turns. Overall I am super happy with my progress.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/willow" target="_blank">Willow Square Blanket</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13887063118" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Willow Square Blanket 1 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Willow Square Blanket 1" height="400" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5193/13887063118_ef8420e1c2_h.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pretty Flowery Squares</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
It's funny where inspiration comes from. I was scrolling through the We Love Lucy group on Facebook and was captivated by a gorgeous photo of solid floral crochet squares. After reading in the caption that they were Willow squares, I quickly opened ravelry to look up the pattern.<br />
<br />
Low and behold, this square was a part of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Crochet-Blocks-Blankets-Throws-Afghans/dp/1931499683" target="_blank">Jan Eaton's 200 Crocket Blocks</a>. A book that has been in my possession for years. In that instant I decided that I would use my oodles of Stylecraft to make a colorful blanket using these blocks. <br />
<br />
Since I have approximately 30 colors in my stash from this brand, I decided to limit myself to 2 per color to start. I can go back and make more but wanted to see all the pretty colors together. So I pulled out my tote of Stylecraft from my stash and pulled the Lipstick (red) from the top and got to work. Then I grabbed the Copper (reddish-brown) and the Plum (reddish-purple)<br />
<br />
About mid way through the I realized that I was done with the Violet (light purple) from my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a> and should use that next and finish up one skein before I open another. After finishing that set I realized that if I just finished the last three squares on my Hue Shift that I could make Willow Squares fr<span style="font-family: inherit;">om the <span style="background-color: white;">Pomegranate (pink)</span> yarn. So of course I started to knit on that project. </span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hue-shift-afghan" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Hue Shift Afghan</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13888159987" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Hue Shift 20.0 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Hue Shift 20.0" height="409" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7351/13888159987_64b399b39b_h.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">It's Back!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /><div>
As mentioned above, I started working on this project because I have ulterior motives. I want to use up these colors in my new blanket before I start a new skein of the color. Call me <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive%E2%80%93compulsive_disorder" target="_blank">OCD</a> but I like finishing skeins before I start new ones. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So having the motivation, I plan on finsihing a row of this and then jumping back to my crochet squares. I do have a bunch of colors that have never been opened that will tide me over while I am knitting on Shrimp (peachy orange). All in all, I hope to get the main sections done before the end of June. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Does anyone else think I have a problem that I tend to make <a href="http://amaryllis-musings.blogspot.com/2013/07/wip-wednesday-heatwave.html" target="_blank">blankets in the summer</a>? Who knows but stay tuned.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

I know some of my family who reads this wondered if everything was okay (I'm looking at you Aunt Francy :) ) but really life just got in the way for a bit.<br />
<br />
In general my mojo for knitting was at an all time low. I cranked out a bunch of projects that I am proud of but my lust for the next project decreased. It also doesn't help that my phone was on the fritz and I was two weeks away from a new one. Alas, as much as I want to use my nice camera for all of my photos of my projects I usually remember about 10 minutes before I leave for work on Wednesdays to take a picture.<br />
<br />
So armed with a new phone I have good intentions to post regularly again but my habits are beginning to change. Since February, I have been going to the gym regularly after work. The weight loss combined with the physical changes to my body have been awesome but I am tired when I get home now and really don't have much more motivation than to read a book. And read I have, seriously I have read 50 books already this year and it's only April.<br />
<br />
So my knitting and crochet has stalled but I know it will return. In the meantime, let's get back into the swing of things with a few pictures that have been floating around recently.<br />
<br />
First the #selfies. I admit, that I like taking them on occasion and even used to take them back in the day with disposable cameras, hoping the picture would come out. Anyway, here are a few that I have taken recently.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Just got my teeth cleaned at the dentist!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div>
At the end of March, I went out to Philadephia to visit Lucy. She's getting married next June and this was the only time her Bridesmaids could get together to look at dresses. Anyway I had some extra time planned and visited Becky while I was out there. Of course we took a Selfie :)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13541271795" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Becky and Me :) by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Becky and Me :)" height="225" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2854/13541271795_8a8526d13e_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Becky and I :)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Honestly, I had a great time and am so happy that Lucy found a gorgeous dress when we were out there. Granted she had to get the final mom seal of approval but the dress she purchased was one that was picked out when we were there. Perhaps a post soon with all of the upcoming wedding plans for 3 awesome ladies in my life.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Speaking of awesome ladies, one of my mom's cousins has been posting a ton of old pictures on Facbook. Some of the best ones come out on Thursdays and I reblog them for #tbt or Throwback Thursday. Let me share a few with you.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13973352334" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Mom - Senior Year of High School (1972/1973) 1 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="Mom - Senior Year of High School (1972/1973) 1" height="445" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7079/13973352334_7cbe90d974.jpg" width="324" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mom's Senior Picture</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I really had to re-blog this picture because this is my mom's senior picture (circa 1972). The thing that I am beginning to realize is that she and I look so incredibly similar. Many people online thought this was black and white picture of me. In fact, I showed people at work this picture and the double takes and triple takes were kind of amusing. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13910362495" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="#tbt Mom and I. <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Baby Heather and Mom</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
So I think this is from late 1986, because I look to only be about a year old. Seriously, how cute was I but really I love the look on my mom's face. I know I say this a lot but she was an awesome mom. She was strong and kind. She gave me space to be myself but was always there when I needed her and even when I thought I didn't need her. She and I argued and fought about chores and curfews but really I always knew that I was loved by her and my dad.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/junebug2285/13969748201" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="#TBT Jenn and I - Senior Year of High School 2002/2003 by Heather, on Flickr"><img alt="#TBT Jenn and I - Senior Year of High School 2002/2003" height="334" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7021/13969748201_f103315685.jpg" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Jenn and I after a football game, Senior Year</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<div>
So this photo fits into two catagories. This was a #selfie I took way back in the day after a football game. We all went out to get food after marching for the game. At the time, on our cell phones didn't have cameras (gasp the horror!) so I think I took this with a disposable film camera. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The actual picture is hanging on my wall in my cube at work but thanks to a large scanner I can share it with you. I couldn't ask for a better friend in Jenn and am so happy that we found each other freshman year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So there you have it, a glimpse into the present and gander into the past. I think I might do #selfie and #tbt posts more regularly so stay tuned.</div>

Needless to say I am fixing that situation this afternoon.<br />

I have another collage photo to post. I realized that I like these monthly look backs on how I am changing and improving my life since the surgery. Once again I have to thank the Amazing Dianne for her photography skills and taking another shot of me at the mall during our knit night.<br />
<br />

This past month was a good one. I didn't get to the gym as often as I would have liked but when I did my trainer really put me through my paces. I lost inches everywhere and have lost a total of 68 lbs since the surgery and since September I have lost 95lbs . I can now do 38 squats in a minute and 18 push-ups in a minute. Wooot! And I also completed a mile in 16 minutes and 54 seconds. <br />
<br />
My main gym goal is to be able to run a 5K on the treadmill. I can do it on an elliptical/cross ramp but I want to be able to run.<br />
<br />
As far as diet, I have been pleased with what I can eat. While chicken and zucchini are not my friends I am happy that I can consume other nutritious foods. I tried salad and while I don't eat a lot of it, the crunch of fresh vegetables is awesome. I was able to eat steak as long as I cut it up into small bites. I still rely on a lot of fish to supplement my diet but thankfully I am starting to like it.<br />
<br />
Overall, I am really happy. That is not something that I say lightly I am really pleased with what's happening and can't wait to see what next month brings.<br />

Hope you all had a good week.<br />
<br />
Yesterday I got all sorts of wires crossed. I thought I had training at the gym (it's tonight) so I left work with plenty of time to get there and change. As soon as I got to my car, my left contact started to swim around my eye and burn. Of course I don't have any solution with me or my glasses to rectify the situation.<br />
<br />
I also had a feeling I was missing something and looked in my bag for the gym and realized I forgot sneakers. So in the 40 minutes until my (supposed) session I stopped at Kohls to get another pair of sneakers and the grocery store to get contact solution and booked it to the gym. <br />
<br />
I made it with 10 minutes to spare to change and deal with my contact. Only to find out that I was a day early for my session. GAH!!!!!! So I stayed and did some cardio and left. Unfortunately, my contact was still not cooperating so I took it out. So I drove home like a pirate with one eye closed.<br />
<br />
In other new, things keep flying off the needles but as fast as they come off more get started so here is my crafty update.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hurricane-hat" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">High Tea during a Hurricane</a><br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3790/12949700884_a614ece2fa_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3790/12949700884_a614ece2fa_h.jpg" height="317" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Love the Spirals</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
So I have been moving along on this hat. You have to love Aran weight yarn because everything just knits up so fast! I am in a dilema because I passed the point to start decreasing about an inch ago but I want to use up the yarn to get the full effect of the evolution. So I don't know whether to keep on knitting or just bite the bullet and start the decreases. Any advise here is welcome!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/leftie" style="background-color: white; color: #8c739b; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Candy Skein Leftie</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7345/12949290185_84c0f50f15_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7345/12949290185_84c0f50f15_b.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back in the Saddle</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
So after finishing a few things, this was high on the list to get started again. Unfortunately the reason why this project was in time out was because of some discoloration that occured. I stupidly left this project exposed to the sun in my car in June. The heat and the rays changed large sections of the grey to a patina green (that color copper oxidizes to). So I had to rip out several sections to fix the problem. Due to the heartbreak that 20 minutes of ripping back stitches that was several nights worth of work, this project went into hibernation.<br />
<br />
Now I just want to finish it! I have so many other things that I want to make and this has langoured enough. Hopefully this will go faster now that I am back at work on it.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/ohlala-2" target="_blank">Oh La La!</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3802/12942207734_7304b2b47e_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3802/12942207734_7304b2b47e_b.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I made a swatch!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So while there are plenty of project that have been on the needles for a while, a girl just needs something new to be excited about. After finishing my <a href="http://amaryllis-musings.blogspot.com/search/label/shapelyboyfriend" target="_blank">Shapely Boyfriend Cardigan</a> I have been hankering to make another sweater. I have a few lots of yarn ready to go but have to wait because I don't want to spend months on something that I can only wear for a week due to my weight loss. <br />
But this cardigan seems pretty forgiving. It's constructed differently from my Shapely Boyfriend but is still seamless. I even had most of yarn in my stash but I still needed to order a bit more.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7424/12939323785_2d857ab8e2_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7424/12939323785_2d857ab8e2_b.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Blue Green and Brown Sweater</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
In an effort to keep my excitement about the project, I made my swatch to test the yarn, needles, and fabric. As you can see above the yarn is working beautifully. There is a nice drape and the color had minimal bleeding in the wash.<br />
<br />
Now to dream about my package to arrive so I can cast on.<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">So that's all for this week.</span><br style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">For other WIPs check out</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;"> </span><a href="http://tamisamis.blogspot.com/2014/03/work-in-progress-wednesday-184.html" style="-webkit-transition: color 0.3s; background-color: white; color: #8c739b; display: inline; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; outline-style: none; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; transition: color 0.3s;" target="_blank">Tami's Amis</a><br style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.479999542236328px;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;"><3 Heather</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12772897483944177034noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131302346349651091.post-76128958215165267562014-02-27T10:35:00.000-05:002014-02-27T10:35:30.290-05:00WIP Wednesday - Err Thursday? #5Another wonky week. I took a vacation day on Monday and traveled to Cleveland for work on Wednesday and needless to say I have no idea what day it is.<br />
<br />
Aside from not knowing what day it is, I am really sick of winter. I try not to complain because I chose to bitch about the heat during the summer but spring better get here soon. We have been getting tastes of nice weather but then it plunges back into the bitter cold and snow. It's enough to cause anyone to go batty.<br />
<br />
In other news, life has been pretty busy. I have had several appointments with my trainer this month and am really starting to feel it. Seriously, my legs were like jello after our session on Tuesday. Plus, I just love the feeling after I leave the gym. I feel like I can leap tall buildings in a single bound. Seriously that's worth the effort and pain.<br />
<br />
The awesome thing is that I have finished several project but have stalled on taking awesome pictures to memorialize the project. Perhaps as spring approaches and the sun shines I will be able to get more pics.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/katahdin" target="_blank">Recovery Katahdin</a><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Can't pronounce the name but love the project :)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
While recovering from my Gastric Bypass Surgery, my work got me a get well gift of yarn instead of flowers. How thoughtful is that? Anyway, I need to get some things off my needles before I started a new project. As soon as I finished my color affection, I decided to start this hat. <br />
<br />
The yarn is a beautiful brown and teal in <a href="http://kelbournewoolens.com/yarns/acadia" target="_blank">Acadia</a> from <a href="http://kelbournewoolens.com/yarns/" target="_blank">The Fibre Company</a>. This yarn is a lovely merino, alpaca and silk blend and has been a dream to work with. As of now I am stripe set away from starting the decreases.<br />
<br />
I had started this for a Ravellenic 2014 event but didn't finish in time.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/junebug2285/hurricane-hat" target="_blank">High Tea during a Hurricane</a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Such a pretty purple</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
While I waited to start the Katahdin, I jumped into this hat as soon as the yarn came in the mail. I had this project planned for awhile and was just waiting for the mini skeins to arrive in my <a href="http://www.twistedfiberart.com/default.asp" target="_blank">Twisted Fiber Art</a> post club order.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3752/12760729394_82d67a1373_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3752/12760729394_82d67a1373_b.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Super pretty!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I got a skein of Queen (Aran weight) in High Tea from the Fall Club. The amount is just a smidge short to make a gorgeous hat so I bought 2 mini skeins to ensure I had enough yardage. I like my hats to be big and slouchy. Smaller hats ruin my hair and we can't have that now can we?<br />
<br />
Anyway, I haven't started the pattern yet but the hat has a spiral in it so it swirls to the crown like a hurricane. Can't wait to show my progress.<br />
<br />

(Update 1)I haven't updated this blog in a bit but life has been a bit hectic these past few weeks. Needless to say, I hope to get back into the routine this week. <br />

What I have to share today was a bit of a shock to the system last night. Since my surgery, I have a ton of mental wins when it comes to the success of the surgery. I am wearing pants that haven't been out of my closet in at least a year. I am pulling on dresses that weren't as flattering as they used to be. In general, the scale and the measuring tape have been telling a good tale.<br />
<br />
But I still see myself everyday and like most women I still see all of my flaws in the mirror. It doesn't matter that the scale says I lost 56 lbs since my surgery. It doesn't matter that since my first weigh in pre-surgery in September I have lost 83 lbs. I still see the thick thighs, the flabby arms and the large stomach. <br />
<br />
That is until last night. <br />
<br />
In a effort to document my success and comprehend the changes that were happening to my body, I ask a friend to take pictures of me. So far we have hit around the same time, first with a base line picture before the surgery and 2 more after. Here are the results.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5475/12761333805_e348de542e_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5475/12761333805_e348de542e_o.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Seriously how awesome is this!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
There are no words, for how I felt last night when I put this collage together. The scale and measuring tape are telling the truth and changes are happening. And it's wonderful! <br />
<br />
I get it now. I can over look the arms, thighs and belly because they won't be there after awhile. The time, money, and pain were worth it because I am changing. And I can't wait to see what next month brings.<br />
